Our Time Capsule has been buried! Almost two years ago, Sheriff Giles suggested the KG Historical Society put together a time capsule to be buried at the new Courthouse. We took him up on his suggestion and enlisted the aid of the KG High School History Club in what was their inaugural year along with many Society Members, Community Members, Sheriff Giles, and KG County Government to collect items appropriate for this effort. We are happy to say we collected items from Members all over the Country, from DRHT volunteers, from current KG High School students, from Courthouse records, from the KG County Museum, and many others.
We gathered this past Thursday to document the burial in front of the new Courthouse and would like to send a HUGE thank you to Sheriff Giles for facilitating the photo opportunity and for assisting this last year in this effort! We will have a plaque added on the ground space soon to note the year and what is buried there.
Sincere appreciation goes out to those who gathered to mark the moment Thursday: KGHS Vice President, Bob Baird; KGHS Secretary, Karen McGrath Tebrich; KGHS Treasurer, Lynn Vaughan Pardee; Members, Koontz Campbell, Adrienne Lloyd, Sam Buckley, Mark McColman, and Anna Marie Lovell. We will post a picture of the plaque once it is in place.
