President's Message
President, King George Historical Society
Dear Members,
As we continue our work of preserving and sharing our community’s rich history, I am reminded that the stories of the past are only as strong as our commitment to protect them for future generations. Every photograph saved, document archived, oral history recorded, and historic site preserved helps ensure that the people and events that shaped our community are not forgotten.
2026 seems to be flying by and we’ve been busy! We are engaging in activities focused on celebrating the Country’s 250th anniversary but we are also continuing to develop and share programs and exhibits that focus on the history of King George County. Our Vice President, Mark McColman is spearheading an effort to bring King George County history and the basics of genealogical research to King George County High School students. Interest from younger generations will ensure continuity of our mission to identify, collect, and preserve the history of King George County.
As we look ahead, we remain dedicated to our mission and our effort to secure a museum space worthy of the vast collection of historical data and artifacts under the stewardship of the Historical Society. We are always grateful for the continued support of our members and sincerely appreciate the many donations of resources we receive. Whether you volunteer your time, attend our events, support our fundraising efforts, or simply share our passion for history, you play an important role in furthering our Mission.
