The King George Historical Society extends its sincere thanks to Mr. Tom Baker, owner of the historic Rokeby estate, for sharing such an informative and engaging presentation with us.
Rokeby is one of King George County's most recognizable historic homes and has been a landmark along Route 3 for generations. Built in the early nineteenth century, the estate has witnessed more than two centuries of local history, reflecting the architectural style, agricultural traditions, and changing landscape of King George County. As with many of Virginia's historic homes, Rokeby has evolved over the years while remaining an important reminder of the county's rich past.
During his presentation, Mr. Baker shared the fascinating history of the property, from its early beginnings to its present-day stewardship. He also discussed the many restoration projects, improvements, and thoughtful upgrades he has undertaken since acquiring Rokeby. His dedication to preserving the home's historic character while ensuring it remains a vibrant and well-maintained property was evident throughout the evening.

As one attendee remarked, "I'll never wonder about the property as I drive by on Route 3 anymore!"
