Westmoreland County always says that the Leedstown Resolutions at Leedstown was signed in their county in 1766. But did you know that Leedstown was actually in King George County in 1766?
Stafford County claims President George Washington was raised in their county at Ferry Farm. Did you know that Ferry Farm was in King George County during that time?
Thanks to Mr. Earl Leach we have county maps with the King George County boundaries throughout the years.
The King George County GIS Department was able to take those maps and overlay them on today’s map.
The first map is the 1721 through 1731. Map 2, the 1721-1731 map filled in. Map 3 is the 1731 through 1776. Map 4 is 1777 through 1778. Map 5 is 1778 to present day. These maps are located on our web-site.
